Dear Leigh Academy Bexley Community,
It is hard to believe we are in October next week. The beginning of this module and the start of the academic year has been overwhelmingly positive.

This week we saw an unprecedented number of prospective students and families attend our open evening on Wednesday. Their feedback has been extremely encouraging with many of them praising our student ambassadors for how they toured groups of visitors and helped showcase the various curriculum areas. We are particularly proud of our year 7 student ambassadors who were keen to share their experience of their own transition from primary school just a few weeks ago. We are very much looking forward to welcoming prospective families back to the academy for our fully-booked open mornings to see our learning community ‘live’ in operation.

Promoting Healthy and Safe Choices
This week, we were delighted to welcome the Sexual Health Bexley team to our Sixth Form to deliver an informative and engaging assembly on the launch of the C-Card scheme.
The session provided students with valuable information about making safe and responsible choices in relationships and intimacy. Students engaged positively with the session and had the opportunity to learn more about how they can access confidential sexual health advice, support and services.
We would like to thank Sexual Health Bexley for taking the time to visit us and for helping our students develop a greater understanding of the support available to them, both online and through local sexual health clinics.

Welcome Back from Chatsworth!
A huge welcome back to all our returning students and a warm Chatsworth welcome to our brand-new pupils joining us for their very first year! It has been a fantastic start to the new academic year, and we are already so proud of the progress so many of our young people are making.
Our Key Stage 4 students have settled brilliantly into mainstream classes and are working exceptionally hard toward their GCSEs. We’ve also welcomed several new hybrid students who are slowly integrating into mainstream lessons. Without the patience, compassion, and dedicated support of our teaching staff and Inclusion Team, education would look very different for these students—so a massive thank you to everyone involved in making this transition a success.
Behind the scenes, we’ve been busy enhancing our spaces! We have recently dusted off the Lego Room and opened a brand-new Regulation Room in the building to help support student well-being. A special thank you goes to all the support staff who gave their time and energy to get these wonderful spaces set up and ready for action.
Here’s to a brilliant year ahead and many more successes to celebrate together!
