Dear Parent/Carer,
Climbing Sessions to Support GCSE PE Practical Grades.
As part of the GCSE practical component of your son/daughter’s GCSE PE grade, we have organised two days of climbing at The Reach Climbing Wall (SE18 5NR). Over these sessions, pupils will be coached by qualified instructors and assessed towards their non-examined assessment for one of their individual activities.
Key Details:
● Dates: Monday 15th and Friday 19th September
● Meeting Point: PE Classroom
● Arrival Time: 8:00am (prompt)
● Return Time: Approximately 4:45pm (Ramsden Road PE gates exit)
● Venue: The Reach Climbing Wall (SE18 5NR)
● Transport: Pupils will travel to and from the venue via an Academy minibus.
Punctuality is essential. Pupils must arrive each day on time to ensure we reach the climbing centre by 8:45am for a 9:00am start. Late arrivals will delay departure, reducing the coaching and climbing time, which may impact pupils’ potential to achieve higher practical grades.
Clothing and Equipment:
● Pupils should wear their PE kit and suitable trainers for climbing.
● The climbing centre is indoors but unheated, so pupils should wear layers to stay warm. Additional clothing should allow free movement and not restrict climbing ability.
● Hair must be tied back, and jewellery is not permitted on the day.
Food and Drinks:
● Pupils should bring a packed lunch and refreshments.
● Free School Meals will be provided for eligible pupils.
Valuables:
Pupils are advised not to bring valuables. The climbing centre is not responsible for any loss or damage to personal belongings.
Medical Requirements:
If your son/daughter is asthmatic, they must bring their blue Ventolin inhaler with them.
Consent:
Please complete this Google Form to confirm your consent for your son/daughter to participate in both days and to confirm that you have read and understood the information provided.
If you have any questions or require further details, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for your support in helping your child achieve their best in their GCSE PE practical assessment.
Yours faithfully
Mr K Powders | Deputy Head of Knole College
