Congratulations to all pupils in Year 13 who are celebrating their results at Leigh Academy Bexley. This group of young people have shown tremendous commitment and resilience over the past few years and we are extremely proud of their achievements.
We are delighted to announce that the performance at Key Stage 5 has continued to improve for both academic and vocational qualifications, with the average grades as C and Merit respectively.
The proportion of pupils achieving grades equivalent to A/A* has more than doubled compared to last academic year. We are also pleased with the 15% increase in the proportion of pupils achieving qualifications equivalent to A*-C compared to last academic year.
Distinctions have been achieved in sport, business, and health and social care. 75% of grades awarded in vocational qualifications are Merit or above. In addition, students have made excellent progress in English literature and history.
Notable student performance includes:
- Milena achieved A grades in English literature, history and sociology;
- Izzie achieved a grade A in criminology and 2 Bs in psychology and sociology;
- Carlos achieved Merits in both business and sport;
- Dhanushk achieved a Merit in business and a distinction in sport;
- Malek achieved a Merit in business and a B in finance;
- Abdul achieved a Distinction in business and a B in finance;
- Melorina achieved Merits in both business and ICT;t;
- Carly achieved a Distinction in business, a C in finance and a merit in sport;
- Kamil achieved a Merit in business, a C in criminology and a B in finance;
- Jordan achieved a Merit in business, a C in criminology and a B in finance.
We are pleased with the number of students who are progressing onto university courses and apprenticeships. Our students are using the knowledge and skills they have developed to study a range of courses including English literature, law, psychology, games design, business management and sports science, as well as apprenticeships within the finance sector.
