Dear Parents/Carers,
Theatre Trip to see ‘Mary Page Marlowe’ Performance and Workshop.
This academic year we have four theatre trips planned to visit The Old Vic Theatre. We have limited tickets for each performance however we are pleased to announce that every Year 10 Performing Arts student will attend at least one of these productions.
The first production this year we would like to offer students to see is a highly regarded production of Mary Page Marlowe starring Susan Sarandon at The Old Vic Theatre, Waterloo, London on Friday 10th October 2025 at 2.30pm. Actors from The Old Vic will also be visiting Leigh Academy Bexley on Monday 6th October between 9-11am to run a workshop with our students about the performance they are going to see.
On Friday 10th October students will meet in the Drama Block at 11.45am, and leave school at 12.30pm to walk to Barnehurst train station to board a train to London Waterloo East. From there it is a two minute walk to The Old Vic Theatre. The students will eat their lunch before they leave school. Students will need a packed lunch and any students who receive free school meals will be provided with one. Students must wear full school uniforms and we advise that suitable comfortable school shoes are worn.
The play starts at 2.30pm and finishes around 4.00pm, with no interval. We anticipate that we will arrive back at Barnehurst Station by 5.30pm and will then walk back, arriving at Leigh Academy Bexley at approximately 5.45pm-6.00pm. Students will be asked to call/text parents/carers when we arrive at
Barnehurst Station to inform parents/carers of our confirmed arrival time back at the Academy.
The theatre tickets will be subsidised by Leigh Academy Bexley as we believe in investing in our students’ passion for a subject and this will include travel cost to the theatre. For the return journey, if students have an oyster card please could they bring it with them.
