PAN Reduction at Leigh Academy Bexley

Dear All Leigh Academy Bexley Stakeholders

Published Admission Number consultation

Following discussions with London Borough of Bexley and our governing body, we are commencing a public consultation regarding the proposed reduction of our Published Admission Number (PAN) for entry into year 7 from 250 to 180 from September 2026.

Why do we need to reduce the PAN at Leigh Academy Bexley?

Following a discussion with the local authority, we believe there is an oversupply of secondary places and fewer children taking up primary places in the borough.  This is a pattern which will get worse over the coming years.  We are committed to providing a high standard of education for our students and this will enable us to plan more effectively for the future.

Consultation Process

Leigh Academy Bexley is committed to open communication and community engagement. A public consultation period is now open, lasting from Monday 4th November for a period of six  weeks, closing at midnight on Monday 16th December  2024.  During this time, the community is encouraged to share their feedback on the proposal through the following methods:

Next Steps

Following the consultation, a report summarising the feedback will be reviewed by the governing body and a decision taken on whether or not to proceed with the PAN reduction. Subsequently, a Significant Change Application will be made to the Department for Education for approval.  Once this has been received, and the Admissions Arrangements have been determined by the Academy board, they will be updated and published on our website.

Yours sincerely,
John Dixon | Principal
